Holy Saturday

Holy Saturday.

Fred Clark has reposted this blog post every Holy Saturday since 2010.  It’s one of my favorites, because it’s so true.  We all hope for the world where compassion, mercy and justice rule.  Where love is greater than power.  We may even have faith that world will someday come.

But for now, in the world we live in, compassion struggles against greed, mercy is seen as weakness, justice is bought by the highest bidder, and whenever love defies power, power kills it.  This world we live in is the Cross, not the Resurrection, and every Easter we celebrate is just practice for the real one we hope to see.

In the meantime, all we have is hope.  Except for people like Fred, who also have faith.  And for that, I envy them.
