Health Journal 10.5


The weather was good in New York today, so I decided to go for a long walk instead of a run on my treadmill.  On the way, I learned a few interesting things:

1) Running on a treadmill all winter is not proper training for a long walk.  Every joint below my waist aches.  Yes, even my toes.

2) I am once again reminded that my new neighborhood – as I still think of it, even after living here for nearly a year – is further out than my old one.  To get to the places I once considered reasonable walking distance, I must cover an additional mile and a half, over hilly terrain.  Total distance walked today: 8.5 miles.

3) Walking against high winds can be just as bad as walking uphill.  Probably part of the reason for #1.
